The Great Gatsby (1925) is the jazz age rendered as a design system: gold leaf breathing on midnight black, echoing Francis Cugat's original dust jacket where two celestial eyes floated over a cobalt-into-black night above burning carnival lights. It is Art Deco at its most romantic and its most doomed — champagne geometry, sunburst fans, stepped ziggurat frames, and one green light glowing at the end of a very long dock.

Everything here is symmetrical, everything is gilded, and everything feels one bad decision away from collapse. Black lacquer, gold inlay, engraved capitals, and two enormous eyes watching from the dark. Pour the champagne, dim the room to gold, and pretend the morning isn't coming.
