1956 Elvis is the exact frame where rock'n'roll grabbed a look and never let go: a grainy black-and-white kid mid-howl, "ELVIS" screaming down the sleeve in bubblegum pink, "PRESLEY" slammed across the bottom in acid green, both in fat jailhouse block. Chrome-and-pink Cadillac, gold lamé catching the stage lights, Vegas bulbs burning warm.
It is loud, working-class, dangerous and joyful at once — a truck driver from Memphis kicking the door off the fifties while wearing gold. Everything here runs oversized, high-contrast, greased-back and grinning: tilted snapshots, hard black slam shadows, halftone dot fields, and marquee bulbs ringing the headlines.
