About Taarab Cassette Sleeve
A 1980s taarab J-card was jobbing print: one flat field of ink on thin card, a band portrait re-photographed until it collapsed into coarse halftone, and the Swahili title laid over the top in dry transfer or a marker. Nothing was centred, the registration slipped a millimetre, and the colour was chosen to shout across a dubbing stall.
This system keeps that logic. The violet field is the page, not a background behind the page. Marigold, chrome yellow, teal, scarlet and hot pink arrive as whole blocks rather than accents. Type is heavy slab and condensed capital, set slightly askew, because a hand put it there.
