About Yeşilçam Film Poster
Yeşilçam ran on volume. Hundreds of films a year came off one street in Beyoğlu, some shot in ten days, and each one needed a sheet on the wall by Friday. The poster artists worked by *kalke*: one hand-prepared original per ink — red, yellow, blue, black — pressed as zinc plates in register, with no photographic film anywhere in the chain.
What that produces is this system. A chrome-yellow flood edge to edge, a photo or airbrushed panel dropped on top, the title written by hand in heavy black, and star names set nearly as large as the title. The plates never landed true, so red and black fringe apart. That drift is the design, not a defect in it.
