Herpetology Scale Plate

Erpétologie générale (Roret, Paris, 1834–1854) by Duméril, Bibron and Duméril is an atlas of 120 hand-colored lithograph plates of lizards and snakes, rendered in muted olive-green and ochre tints. Scale-row diagrams and head-shield keys sit beside full-body figures, each numbered with French legends.

This system distills that scholarly atlas into a digital language: the aged greyed-buff plate paper as ground, lizard-olive as primary, warm ochre for ornament, and period serif type for French legends — tint-wash modeling over fine outline, never flat vector.

《普通爬虫学》（Erpétologie générale，罗雷出版社，巴黎，1834–1854）由杜梅里尔、比布隆与小杜梅里尔合著，是一部收录 120 幅手工上色石版画的蜥蜴与蛇类图谱，以低饱和的橄榄绿与赭石色调晕染。鳞列示意图与头盾检索图紧邻全身图样，每幅均配法文编号与图注。

本设计系统将这部学术图谱转译为数字语言：以泛灰的米黄色版纸作底，以蜥蜴橄榄绿为主色，暖赭色作纹饰，配以法文图注的时代衬线体——在精细轮廓之上叠加色调晕染，绝不使用扁平矢量。
