About Slovacko Kroj
The Slovácko kroj is festival dress from the southeastern corner of Moravia, and it is built on one ground: bleached white linen, crimp-pleated into standing vertical folds that hold their own shadow. Golden yellow is not a decorative choice on that ground — it is rank. Yellow embroidery is the most formal, and the formal back apron is white or golden yellow.
There is no single Czech folk pattern here. Cut, stitch type and thread colour change from village to village; Vlčnov and Velká nad Veličkou do not wear each other's kroj. This system takes that as its rule: massed ornament at fixed positions, hand-worked and never quite mirrored, on linen that is always pleated and never flat.
