About Madoka Magica
A dark interface built from the witches' labyrinths in Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Shaft, 2011). Sepia photographs, roses, butterflies and scissors are cut out of paper and layered over a deep ultramarine night, the way Gekidan Inu Curry staged Gertrud's labyrinth in episode one.
Madoka's pink marks headings and actions. Pale paper pink carries the text, and invented witch-rune captions in typewriter type label everything. Edges are scissor-cut and frames sit slightly off square, so the page reads like a paper theatre rather than a grid.
