Nkisi nkondi are Kongo and Yombe power figures — carved hardwood sculptures activated by driving iron nails and blades into the body, each strike sealing an oath, settling a grievance, or calling a witness. The figure's belly holds bilongo medicine sealed behind a resin-set mirror, understood as a window onto "the other world." What survives is a blackened wood body bristling with oxidized iron, frontal and hieratic, radiating accumulated force.
This design system distills that object into a digital language — true blackened-wood darkness, never cream or paper-white, with a dense iron-stud texture, a reflective mirror-panel accent, and grave columnar type standing in for the figure's unwavering, confrontational stare.
