Javanese Teak Joglo

ProMax

The Javanese joglo house, with its soaring tumpang sari roof and walls of carved jati teak, is the architectural soul of central Java. Across 1900–1950, master carvers cut beams and floral relief panels from Tectona grandis — a warm golden-brown wood that deepens to an oiled dark-wax patina with age.

This design system distills that aged teak into screen language: a deep oiled-brown ground, carved relief depth from near-black recesses, and amber-gold highlights catching the raised edges of foliate scrollwork. The wood is the page; light lives only on the carving.
