Interstate Highway Shield

The Interstate Highway Shield system is the visual language of American road navigation: the heraldic red-white-blue shield set against a dark green retroreflective guide panel, lettered in white Highway Gothic. Standardized by the FHWA and MUTCD, it was engineered for one job — instant legibility at highway speed.

This design system distills that engineering discipline into a digital interface: guide-sign green grounds, exact Pantone shield colors, thick white borders, and condensed uppercase legends built for distance, not decoration.

州际公路盾牌系统是美国道路导航的视觉语言——红白蓝相间的徽章式盾牌，衬在深绿色 逆反射指示牌底面上，配以白色 Highway Gothic 字体。它由联邦公路管理局（FHWA） 与《统一交通控制设施手册》（MUTCD）标准化，只为一个目标而生：在高速行驶中实现 瞬间可读。

本设计系统将这套工程纪律转化为数字界面——指示牌绿色底面、精确的潘通盾牌色、 粗白边框，以及为远距离辨识而生的压缩大写图例。这不是怀旧的66号公路棕褐色风格， 而是现代绿底盾牌的州际系统。
