Estridentismo — Cover

About Estridentismo

Estridentismo was printed before it was read. Maples Arce set *Actual No. 1* on a charity-school press, on whatever coloured bill stock was in the shop, and pasted it on Mexico City walls next to the bullfight bills. Everything follows from that: condensed wood-type capitals, vermilion relief ink, black bars, no white paper.

The design language is a manifesto sheet, not a magazine. Sizes jump inside a line, words break where the measure runs out, blocks tilt off the grid, and woodcut vignettes of masts and factories drop in where a photograph would be too polite.
