Situationist International (Debord, 1957)

The Situationist International weaponized typography and layout as instruments of political critique. Founded in 1957 by Guy Debord and Asger Jorn, the SI's visual language — bold condensed sans-serif headlines on newsprint, revolutionary red spot-color, détourné collages with hijacked speech bubbles — turned the spectacle's own imagery against itself.

This system channels that fierce printed-pamphlet energy: cream newsprint surfaces, heavy black borders, compressed headline stacks, and a strict red-black-cream palette that refuses decorative comfort in favor of agitational clarity.
