The vernacular architecture of the Greek Cyclades is built from hand-applied slaked-lime render over rough masonry, washed each year for hygiene and for the light it throws back. Its signature is the high-contrast blue dome on white wall under hard Aegean sun. Here the ground is not plain white but the saturated cobalt of the domes, the deep sea and the sky; whitewashed render becomes the white accent, not the field.
Cubic white volumes, vaulted domes, rounded arches and deep-set blue shutters carry the system. Generous negative space, high reflectivity and crisp cast shadows give it weight. This is a pre-1900 island building tradition — quiet, inscriptional, hand-troweled — not a modern resort palette.
