About Prairie School
The Prairie houses argue one thing over and over: the horizon. Hipped roofs run low and far, eaves cantilever out past the walls, Roman brick courses read as lines because the vertical joints were filled to vanish and the horizontal joints raked and packed with cream mortar.
Inside, the wall itself is the colour — sand-finish lime plaster stained with thin pure pigment in water and glue, ochre and salmon, banded everywhere by shellacked oak. This system builds in those terms: wide low plates, overhanging headers, hairline joints, and glass drawn only in straight lines.
