About Climate Refuge Seed Archive
At 78° north, the only visible part of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault is a board-formed concrete wedge pushing out of a mountainside. Everything that matters sits more than 100 m inside the rock, under 40–60 m of stone, at −18 °C. The design language here is not the building — it is the catalogue: three-ply foil packets, accession numbers, shelf coordinates, barcodes.
So the system is built from cold grey concrete, brushed steel and frost, ruled into an unornamented grid of rows. One colour breaks it: the greenish-turquoise of Dyveke Sanne's fibre-optic roof work, used once per view as a light source, never as a fill.
