Whirling Dervish Sema

ProMax

The Mevlevi sema is the whirling ceremony of the Sufi order founded in Rumi's tradition: dervishes in white flared tennure skirts and camel-brown sikke hats spin in slow rotation to the breath of the ney reed. The white robe is a resurrection shroud — the figure that turns against darkness.

The authentic setting is a candlelit mevlevihane lodge, its walls faced in deep Iznik cobalt-and-turquoise tile, so white spins against tiled darkness under amber lamplight — never against a plain page. This system turns that geometry of light into a digital language.
