About Ukrainian Vyshyvanka Embroidery
The vyshyvanka is the Ukrainian embroidered shirt — bold red-and-black geometric cross-stitch worked on hand-woven natural linen. The base cloth is never bleached white or cream but a warm greige homespun oatmeal. Carpathian and Naddniprianshchyna canon favours rhombus, oak-leaf, rosette and rhomb-with-hook motifs.
Red means life and love; black means protection. This system distills that counted, stepped grid discipline into a digital design language — every line on a thread, every motif mirrored, no smooth curves and no extra colours.
