Swiss Railway Clock

ProMax

The Swiss Railway Clock is Hans Hilfiker's 1944 station clock for the SBB: a cool clinical enamel dial, matte black bezel, black baton markers and hands, and a single red disc-tipped second hand added in 1953. It is the purest expression of Swiss-modern information design.

This system distills that clock into an interface language — flat black on cool white, generous radial space, uppercase Helvetica labels, and one disciplined red reserved for the single most important moving accent. Nothing decorative; everything functional.
