Souto de Moura Granite distills the material severity of Portuguese Pritzker laureate Eduardo Souto de Moura — an architecture built from raw dark granite and exposed anthracite concrete. For the Braga Municipal Stadium he blasted roughly a million cubic metres of site granite back into the structure; the charcoal stone-face and board-marked concrete recur from Braga to the Casa das Histórias.
The system reads as solid stone: a dark granite-grey ground warmer and stonier than pure black, massive rectilinear blocks, deep shadow joints, and austere neutral grotesques with no ornament. Near-monochrome, matte, and tectonic.
「Souto de Moura Granite」
