Yugoslav Spomenik

ProMax

Between the 1950s and 1980s socialist Yugoslavia built hundreds of abstract WWII memorials — crystals, starbursts, cantilevered wings and hollowed cubes cast in place on the ground where the Partisan uprising happened. The commission was explicitly non-figurative: no soldiers, no realism, only geometry at monumental scale.

This system takes its ground from that material state. Weathered concrete grey-green as the page, shadowed pour for structure, and a metallic register — Bakić's Swedish stainless at Petrova Gora, the aluminium eye at Podgarić — for anything that should catch light. Rust bleed and lichen stay in the palette as documented condition, not damage.
