The 1994 South African flag is the most optimistic piece of graphic design to emerge from the post-Cold-War era — a six-color Y-form that fused liberation movement colors with the old order and made compromise look triumphant. This system channels that inauguration-morning energy: ANC green as the dominant ground, national gold as the action color, and every other flag hue present in supporting roles.
The aesthetic is matte, civic, and unapologetically saturated. It borrows from SABC broadcast graphics, Mandela-era banknote typography, and the documentary photography of 1994–1999 — always bold, always inclusive, never minimal.
