Sherlock Holmes — Baker Street (1887)

This is the London of 1887 rendered as a printed page: fog-gray streets, hissing gaslight, and the crisp wood-engraved line that carried the detective from A Study in Scarlet into The Strand Magazine. It is built around Sidney Paget's dense cross-hatched ink on cheap grayish pulp stock.

Everything reads like a monthly serial — two narrow justified columns split by a hairline rule, engraved plate captions, a magnifying-glass dingbat under every title. The palette lives in graphite and fog, lit only by one gaslight brass and the rare flick of scarlet. The game is afoot, and it was printed in ink.
