Serbian Pirot Kilim

The Pirot cilim is a double-faced slit-tapestry flatweave produced by women weavers in the Serbian mountain town of Pirot since at least the seventeenth century. Its vocabulary of 122 named geometric patterns — the kornjaca turtle, the bombe, the na cenare border frame — encodes centuries of Balkan visual culture in wool and warp thread.

This design system translates the kilim's deep-claret ground, indigo borders, and ochre accent bands into a digital surface language where every element feels woven, every edge stepped, and every panel reads as cleanly on the back as the front.
