Seba Butterfly Cabinet

ProMax

Albertus Seba's *Thesaurus* (Amsterdam, 1734) arranged hand-colored copperplate butterflies with rigorous mirrored symmetry: iridescent Morpho blue beside ochre swallowtails, mounted like specimens in a cabinet of curiosities. The blue is structural — a glow of refracted light, not pigment — burning vivid against a deep slate-blue and charcoal ground.

This system distills that Wunderkammer plate into an interface: a dark cabinet ground, engraved serif type, script cartouches, and the unmistakable luminance of structural Morpho blue against earthy ochre and brick.
