About São Toméan Cocoa Roça
São Tomé's roças were once the engine of the world's cocoa supply — vast plantation compounds of rust-pink casarões, terracotta drying terraces, and iron rail tracks cutting through equatorial jungle. After independence in 1975, these estates fell into magnificent decay. This design system captures that specific palette of tropical ruin: lime-washed pink fading under monsoon rain, cocoa-bean brown darkening in shadow, and flashes of Portuguese azulejo blue surviving on chapel walls. It is colonial architecture dissolving back into green.
