About Ranakpur Jain Temple
A design system cut from a single stone. Ranakpur's Chaumukha temple is pale grey-white marble from floor to dome, so this theme puts every surface on that same marble and builds all of its contrast from the dark between the pillars.
The structure is concentric and four-fold rather than columnar. Panels are inset into the surface with hard bevels instead of floating on soft shadows. Devanagari headings set in Tiro Devanagari Hindi do the inscriptional work, and Archivo numerals count the repeat: 1444 pillars, 80 domes, 29 halls.
