About Queenslander House
The Queenslander is a house that solved its own climate. Raised on stumps so air moves underneath, wrapped on two or three sides by a deep verandah, skinned in weatherboard and VJ board, and vented through jigsaw-cut lattice and fretwork valances cut at the local joinery mill.
Its palette is documented, not invented: muted greys, stark whites and soft biscuits on the body; Brunswick green and Indian red held back for joinery, balustrades and window hoods; galvanised iron overhead; oiled hardwood underfoot. This system builds interfaces the way the house is built — base, body, screen, roof.
