Qalamkar is the hand block-printed cotton of Isfahan, stamped one carved wooden block and one natural dye at a time — black outline, then madder-red, then indigo. The cloth is never bleached: repeated pomegranate-peel baths leave a warm khaki-tan ground that carries every scrolling vine, boteh and rosette. This system reads as matte natural-dye ink on woven cotton — dense floral repeats, hand-cut edges with slight registration offset, and running border bands. It is ornament as structure, warm and grounded, never digital, never bleached white.
