About Mandaean Ginza Rba
The Ginza Rba is the great book of the Mandaeans, copied by hand onto rag paper — never parchment, because scribes avoid animal-derived materials for ritual purity. Brown-black ink sits in ruled columns, red rubrication opens each section, and Mandaic runs right to left in its own rounded alphabet.
This system takes the page as its unit. A buff leaf, a single justified column on visible ruling, sections marked by colour rather than size, and one vertical accent — the drabsha, the cross-armed standard hung with white silk. Blue is the yardna, the flowing water of baptism.
