About Louvre Abu Dhabi

A system drawn from Jean Nouvel's museum city on Saadiyat Island: 55 low white volumes standing in seawater, and above them a 180 m dome of eight offset layers that breaks the Gulf sun into a moving speckle. The palette is the building's own — shaded concrete, canopy grey, steel silhouette, and one pale note of sky and sea.

Type follows Philippe Apeloig's bilingual identity: a humanist Latin sans set beside Arabic at equal rank. Surfaces are flat, square and separated by shadow, and the only decoration allowed is light that moves.
