In 2016, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory released "Visions of the Future," a set of travel posters imagining tourism to exoplanets, moons, and worlds across the solar system. Designed in-house by JPL's studio, the series borrows its visual grammar from 1930s WPA national-park posters and Art Deco travel advertising, recasting scientific speculation as nostalgic, populist adventure. The palette is deliberately restrained: burnt-orange and ochre-gold silhouettes, warm-tan Deco lettering, and dusty teal or rust-red accents sit against a deep navy-black night sky. Flat spot-color illustration, geometric condensed caps, and ornamental frames give each sheet the gravity of a collectible plate rather than a digital render.
