Nixie tubes are cold-cathode neon display devices that lit up calculators, frequency counters, and lab instruments from the 1950s through the 1970s, before LEDs and LCDs displaced them. Each glass vacuum tube stacks shaped metal numerals that glow a warm reddish-orange discharge near 640nm. This system rebuilds that look in the browser: glowing orange digits floating in depth on a near-black anodized chassis, never on cream.
