About Lajos Kassák MA Constructivism
Lajos Kassák's MA ("Today") journal, in its post-1922 Vienna phase, defined Hungarian activist constructivism. On a square page format, hard red and black rectangles and architectonic slab-sans letterforms compose as "picture-architecture" (képarchitektúra) on clean printed cover stock.
The letters M and A read as building blocks within rigorous typographic grids. The aesthetic is sparse, asymmetric, and high-contrast: bars, right angles, and oversized blocks of type held in tension across the page.
