The rose windows of Chartres Cathedral are not pictures on a wall — they are walls made of light. Near-black lead cames and gray stone tracery hold panels of pot-metal glass so that color reads as luminance against deep shadow, never as pigment on paper.
This system inherits that logic. A cathedral-dark ground lets cobalt, ruby, emerald and amber glow as if backlit. Geometry is radial: petals and foils fan out from a central medallion in concentric rings, every panel outlined in lead. Type is medieval — blackletter for display, Roman caps for structure.
