The Ethiopian mesob is the woven straw basket-table around which the highland meal is shared. Its hourglass body is dyed in flag-color red, green, and yellow and patterned in concentric geometric bands; lift the lid and pale sourdough injera lies spread beneath berbere-red wat stews, with coffee following from a clay jebena.
This system translates that generous, saturated table into an interface: a deep dyed-straw red ground, bold flag-color weave bands, and a sourdough-injera field reserved for content. It is warm and food-centred — never paper, never cream.
