Ed Fella Hand-Drawn (1990)

ProMax

Ed Fella spent twenty-five years as a Detroit commercial illustrator before walking away from computer typography in 1987. What followed was a fourteen-year run of hand-lettered flyers for the Detroit Focus Gallery — dense, asymmetric, annotation-heavy compositions where every letter is drawn uniquely and the page reads like a personal diary. This system captures that spirit: wobbly headlines, mixed hand-drawn typefaces, margin notes, paper offsets, and a screenprint-blue ground that refuses the polished grid.
