Mahjong Tile Set

Mahjong Tile Set draws on the early-twentieth-century bone-and-bamboo gaming tile — ivory faces hand-carved and ink-filled with the three suits, racked on deep jade table felt and dark hongmu wood. The pale bone face is too light to serve as the ground, so the honest field is the green felt; ivory appears only as a tile-face accent. It is tactile, ornamental, gaming craft steeped in East Asian leisure culture.

「麻将牌面」取材于二十世纪初东亚的骨竹麻将牌——象牙色牌面手工雕刻、填以彩墨， 刻着条、筒、萬三色花色与风、箭等字牌，整齐码在深翠的赌桌绒毡与红木牌桌之上。 骨白牌面太浅，撑不起整片底色，于是真正的底是那片深绿绒毡；象牙白只作牌面点缀， 绝不当作背景。红的喜庆、绿的沉静、蓝黑的工整，刀痕里见手艺，方寸间是东方的牌桌闲情。
