About City Pop Tokyo
City pop is the sound and look of bubble-economy Tokyo: cosmopolitan, AOR-tinged urban music whose album sleeves were defined by illustrators Hiroshi Nagai and Eizin Suzuki. The visual language is a neon twilight skyline reflected in glass — saturated cyan skies and pool water, palm silhouettes, chrome lettering, and hand-drawn women in night leisure. It lives at night. The page is a deep neon blue Tokyo evening, lit from within by turquoise, sunset pink, and neon purple. Nothing is muddy and nothing is cream; the world glows like an airbrushed record cover from 1984.
