About Uelen Walrus Ivory
Uelen engravers work a whole curved tusk as one picture surface. A hairline is cut the full length of the ivory and pigment is rubbed into the cut, so the drawing reads as soot-dark line on warm pale bone — never as shading.
This system takes that literally. Everything is an incised outline of even weight, episodes run left to right along one panorama instead of stacking in boxes, and colour is rationed to brick red, cold blue and hide brown, dropped into the line as a tint.
