About Chamorro Latte Stone
Latte stones are the house foundations the ancient CHamoru raised across the Marianas: a quarried shaft called the haligi, carrying a hemispherical capstone called the tasa, set in strictly parallel pairs of six to fourteen to frame a rectangular dwelling. Reef limestone, basalt and sandstone, weathered in jungle clearings to a pale warm grey.
The system takes its grammar from that structure. Content stands between paired verticals rather than floating centred. Wide elements rest on narrower ones. Shadows are hard-edged, as at equatorial midday. Nothing is decorative that does not hold something up.
