Cameroonian Ndop Royal Indigo

ProMax

Ndop is the resist-dyed indigo cloth of the Bamum and Bamileke fon courts in Cameroon's Grassfields. Strip-loomed cotton is hand-stitched with raffia in symbolic motifs, then plunged into fermented indigo vats until the ground reads deep navy and the reserves emerge as pale ash-blue.

This design system channels the Foumban Royal Palace aesthetic: deep indigo fields, ash-reserve patterns, smoke-black shadows, and restrained copper accents drawn from palanquin trim. Typography evokes court announcements; layouts echo the panel structure of royal robes.
