About Balinese Kamasan Painting
Kamasan painting is Bali's classical wayang-style narrative art, painted on rice-paste-primed cotton cloth in natural earth pigments aged to a warm tobacco-ochre tone. Fine ink-outlined profile figures march in horizontal registers, telling the Mahabharata and Ramayana.
This design system distills that hereditary cloth-painting tradition into screen form — an aged ochre ground, iron-oxide reds, indigo and gold-leaf accents, and ordered narrative registers that read like a hand-painted frieze.
