Sugimoto Seascapes

ProMax

Hiroshi Sugimoto's *Seascapes* are long-exposure gelatin-silver photographs in which a single always-centered horizon splits sea from sky into two fields of luminous neutral gray. Shot worldwide from 1980 into the 2010s on an 8×10 view camera, they reduce the ocean to infinite midtone gradation.

This design system distills that austere, contemplative monochrome into digital form — a silver-gray ground, hairline horizon rules, smooth tonal gradients with no hard edges, and restrained classical serif type drawn from Sugimoto's own books and portfolios.
