The armillary sphere is the oldest model of the heavens still made by hand: a cage of graduated brass rings — equator, ecliptic, colures, tropics — wrapped around a small central globe. Refined from Greek antiquity through Renaissance instrument workshops, it survives in museum cases as patinated gold against a deliberately dark display ground. This system borrows that exact staging: warm brass rings and engraved Roman capitals lit against a deep near-black void, where every line of degree-marking and zodiac glyph earns its glow.
