Senegalese Mbalax Poster (Dakar 1985)

ProMax

Born from the wheat-pasted walls of Dakar's Medina quarter, this design system channels the raw energy of 1980s mbalax concert posters — two-color screen prints slapped up before dawn and peeled away by humidity before the next show. Hot pink and acid yellow scream over black newsprint with the urgency of a Friday night at Thiossane.

The aesthetic is deliberately imperfect: registration marks drift, halftone dots bleed, and condensed type shouts band names in hand-cut Latin caps. Every element says the show is tonight and the poster is louder than the radio.
