About Scythian Gold
A single commissioned object: 1150 grams of solid gold, 306 millimetres across, cast, chased, stamped, forged, drawn, inlaid and soldered by metalworkers who knew both steppe iconography and Greek relief. Three crescent registers stack pastoral life, a floral scroll, and animal combat, divided by twisted hollow tubes that end in lion-headed clasps.
The system keeps the excavation ground rather than the vitrine. Black chernozem carries the page; gold appears only where relief would actually catch raking light, with the full highlight-to-shadow range that makes cast form legible.
