Namib Sand Dunes

The Namib erg at Sossusvlei holds some of Earth's tallest dunes, their quartz grains coated in iron-oxide hematite that burns rust-red and apricot-orange — the oldest dunes redder still. Under a low sun the dune is the ground: rippled burnt-apricot ridges set against deep, shadowed lee faces. This system translates that landscape into interface. Even the pale sand reads warm; the shadow face is rich dark rust, never cream. Sweeping S-curve crests, a single quiet horizon, and large negative space carry the whole composition.
