Cloud Atlas Plate

ProMax

A plate lifted from the dawn of meteorology, when Luke Howard's Latin nomenclature — cirrus, cumulus, stratus, nimbus — first gave the sky a vocabulary. Soft watercolour cloud forms float over a muted overcast gray-blue wash, never a bright white page. Wet-edged shadows, warm paper showing only at the margins, and engraved sepia captions in italic Latin carry the quiet authority of a Victorian natural-history study.
