Rude Boy Jamaica Ska (1960)

Sharp suits under hot sun, sound-system towers stacked against zinc fences, and 7-inch labels spinning ska riddims at the Saturday lawn dance — Rude Boy culture was the self-styled swagger of post-independence Jamaican youth. This design system captures that Kingston energy: Trojan yellow and hot pink color blocks punched onto pure black, chunky hand-lettered headline type, and circular label graphics that echo Studio One and Treasure Isle 45s.

The aesthetic is deliberately rough — halftone dots, ink mottle, hard-offset shadows — because its sources were hand-painted sound-system signage and riso-printed dance-hall flyers, not agency design. Every surface should feel like it was wheat-pasted onto a Trench Town wall at midnight.
