About Horezu Ceramics
Horezu ceramics are UNESCO-listed Oltenian folk pottery from Vâlcea, Romania. Potters throw a red terracotta clay body; women slip-paint the spiral "Cocoșul de Hurez" — the rooster of Horezu — in concentric "Hora Cocoșilor" rings.
The palette is earthy and hand-drawn: rust ochre, olive green, Horezu blue, and Horezu ivory ringing the warm red clay body. This system carries that fired-clay ground and slip-trailed irregularity into the screen.
